How many bins does a single unit hide?
A single hidbin unit hides 1 standard 240l wheelie bin comfortably or 2 120l smaller bins.
BUT in many instances a single unit placed in front of 2 or more bins will do the job of hiding them all from view quite satisfactorily.
Okay, so how many bins can I hid completely with 2 hidbin units?
Either 2 or even 3 full sized 240 l wheelie bins fit inside a pair of hidbin units together.
But how can 3 bins fit into 2 units?
Well the internal walls (i.e. the wire mesh frame) are now redundant once the 2 units are side by side facing one another and can be easily and safely folded back internally without compromising the integrity of the structure or how the lids (the tops of the hidbin) sit and function. These walls can be left in position if you have only 2 bins and if folded back to accommodate 3 bins may be either tied to the back internal wall or just left to free stand against the back internal wall.
Will the synthetic hedging fade?
No, it is UV ray protected so will hold its colour for at least 5 years, thereafter paling in colour very gradually.
Will the wire mesh not rust?
No, the 3 ml steel weld mesh is powder coated in a green protective layer and will last many years.
Some of the leaves fell off, should I be concerned?...
Not at all, this is to be expected. There are many thousands of leaves on each panel and it is the nature of the product to shed a few, particularly after shipping and handling.
You will note that the outer edge of leaves, most vulnerable to continuous handling, have been individually further secured to keep your hidbin looking tiptop.
You recommend I secure the hidbin once in its optimal position. Why?
Although the hidbin is designed to be a sturdy stand alone unit, and notwithstanding the fact that typically it will ‘live’ and function in a sheltered Garden environment, our concern is first and foremost for safety. In high winds the hidbin may be liable to topple over just as on occasion your wheelie bins might be prone to.
How do I secure the hidbin?
As the hidbin is designed as a versatile unit that can be used in multiple locations on your properly the surroundings s will vary.
Typically however the hidbin will be against a fence, wall or hedge. The wire mesh frame with 50ml squares is designed to allow the unit to be easily and securely fastened to either the surface it is in contact with or indeed the ground below. You may use steel nails, screws, cable ties rope or whatever suits your particular circumstances best. The design, which has (a) a removable lid allowing you to change the angler/side from which it is opened and (b) a cantilever door to allow easy bin access from more than just one side, facilitates the securing of the unit without impairing its functionality. I.E you can use it and open/close both doors and lid while secured into position. As it came flat packed it can be folded back in the same way allowing passage past it if for example in a tight alleyway or indeed if being moved to another location. (e.g. moving house or some people keep their bins nearer to hand during wintertime for obvious reasons.
My bins are kept to the LEFT of my house, can I change the way they hidbin faces!?
Not an uncommon occurrence. Simply remove the lid via the two quick release catches on the side, then turn the entire hidbin unit UPSIDEDOWN and pop the lid back on an hey presto, it now fits at the side that suits you best.
How do I cover 3 bins with 2 hidbins?
I’ve just bought 2 hidbin units ‘cos I want to completely cover my 3 bins to discover they are identical. So how can I match the 2 and have a continuous hedge on 3 sides like in your product photos?
Simply remove the lid from either one, turn it upside-down, replace lid and now you have 2 hidbins that can be joined together.
If I’ve 2 hidbin units together need I physically join them?
Not necessarily but we strongly recommend you secure the hidbin once in position, you will also find that attaching the pair at the back, perhaps using rope or wire, will enhance their stability and therefore ease of use.
We have more than 3 bins. Can I continue to add more hidbin units?
Yes, as many as you like. In fact the longer it is the more convincing a hedge it appears.
What if it breaks?
The hidbin has been engineered and manufactured to be a sturdy and robust outdoor product and we anticipate you will get years of trouble free use from it. In the unlikely event of difficulties however please contact us immediately and we will repair or replace without fuss. Your guarantee allows for money back if not fully satisfied for 6 months after purchase.
Are there alternative uses/other hidbin products?
Yes. For starters due to popular demand we will soon have individual synthetic hedging panels available so you can customize your own screen or perhaps ugly block wall.
Our sister company www.SanctuarySynthetics.ie can also provide a full installation service.
The number of uses for the hidbin (besides hiding bins of course) is only limited by ones imagination. On the Dragons Den Mark joked that it could be the hid-Bike, the hid-Barbeque, the hid-gas Bottles, the hid-coalBunker, Lots of things beginning with ‘B’. You tell us what you have in mind. Oil tanks are another obvious eyesore that ought to be screened. Bobby Kerr wanted to put his Dogs in there!
